Pack your bags - depart for Uk (from Sydney) September 13th 2012

The second Alan Carter Antiques Roadshow departs from Sydney for England on September 13th 2012 - returning from London on the 30th September.  18 days - 16 nights in 3 or 4 star hotels of character.  You are invited.

Following on from the first successful roadshow in September 2011 this second trip in September 2012 promises to b, Chester, Blackpool, Harrogate and Cambridge and a final stop-over in London with a visit to Portobello Road antiques market.

This is a trip for a small number (around 20 travellers) as it is a very flexible tour. If we discover something locally the group want to explore and enjoy we can easily change our plans (but not our hotels). Touring is in a comfortable Mercedes coach. Shepton Mallet Antiques and Collector’s Fair at the Royal Bath & West Showground  - it features up to 600 stands, The fair is on fro three days. - 14th, 15th & 16th. Tour of Bath.

Drive through beautiful countryside - Glastonbury and visit to country dealers in Hungerford. Final visit to Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair 

Mon 17th Bath

Bristol ship museum,; trip to Wales via Cardiff to vist National Museum of Wales -St Fagans Castle - Europe's leadng open air msueum, Cardiff antique centre

Tues 18th Chester

Bakewell Showground Antiques & Collectors Fairs   - Bakewell is a beautiful  tourist destination in the Heart of the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire. Arrive Chester early evening.

Hotel: Blossoms, first built in 1650 in teh heart of historic Chester. 4 star

Wed 19th Chester

Haydock Park Antique & Collectors Market  - Vintage Retro Shabby Chic Old Jewellery Silver Ware Fashion Furniture Textiles Art and much much more. 

Thur 20th Chester

Nantwich Civic Hall Antique and Collectors Fair  Afternoon in Chester - be sure to take the city bus tour.

Fri 21st Chester

 National waterways museum in the morning followed by afternoon in country antique centres

Sat 22nd Blackpool

Lytham St. Annes Antiques & Collectors Fair     Blackpool illuminations - in the evening

Sun 23rd Blackpool

Spectacular lake district - antique shops - Lake Windermere boat trip - Beatrix Potter museum - motor museum... Blackpool theatrical show.  

Mon 24th Harrogate

Travel to Harrogate over the Yorkshire moors - very special. Then onto Castle Howard - one of the world's top 10 mansions... arrive Harrogate early evening.

Hotel: The Majestic, Magnificetn 19th Centruy Vicorian landmark Hotel overlooking Harrogate. 4 star

Tues 25th Harrogate

Morning in Harrogate - antique centre, afternoon in York - cathedral and city and river walk

Wed 26th Cambridge

 Travel to Sandringham - the Queen’s country residence - (stopping at Newark-on-Trent - market day), arrive Cambridge early evening.

Hotel: University Arms, historic Hotel in teh centre of Cambridge. 4 star

Thurs 27th Cambridge

At leisure in Cambridge. Local antique centres,  Evensong  at Kings College (5.30pm)

Fri 28th London 

Blenheim Palace - home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, Blenheim Palace is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill . Good local antique shops. Arrive London early evening staying at Hotel: Shaftesbury, Notting Hill - boutique hotel in the heart of Bayswater, close to Portobello Rd. 4 star.

Portobello Road  - the world’s biggest antiques market. A great day with personal insights from Alan Carter.

We fly out Sunday eraly evening (tbc),  arrive back in Sydney on Tuesday morning 2nd October. I am still not sure what happens to the day we seem to 'lose' on the way back.

Cost of tour currently being negotiated by our travel agents. Based on the 2011 costs - which haven't gone up too much the approximate price for twin share will be around $6600 Iinc GST) and single room $7,600. Cost includes transfers, return flight Sydneu-London, coach and driver, hotels, breakfast.  All admission costs and other activity costs not included - as nothing is compulsory. This rally is a flexible tour to suit everyone.  You just have to like antiques and collectables.  Full details in final itineray.  NB transfer from London Hotel to Heathrow on final day not included as a number of travellers have indicated they will be staying on in the UK and we don't need the coach and driver in London. Hotels may be subject to change.
