Every year since 1985 Alan Carter and his family have been involved in producing Price Guides to Antiques & Collectables in Australia. In that time they have also published over 200 magazines and many other books and dvd’s to inform and delight dealers and collectors.
Alan, his family and colleagues have also introduced and organised Australia's biggest national antiques fair circuit (held in every major mainland city) and Australia's only International Convention on Antiques and Collectables.
One of Australia's most experienced 'faces' in the antiques industry, Alan Carter takes pride in approving every single item appearing within the pages of his books. If it's information on antiques and collectables you’re looking for – you can trust the experience, principles, fun and enthusiasm of Alan Carter.
He first learned the trade in London’s famed Portobello Road and now has over 50 years in the antiques and collectables industry.
From modest beginnings he became one of Southern England's largest international antique shippers and when he decided to come down under with his family he published Australia’s first-ever antiques magazine in 1981. He introduced the Giant Antiques Fairs circuit in the 1980s and published the first Australian Price Guide in 1985.
Since that first Price Guide he has been involved in publishing the industry's most acclaimed Price Guides every year since with the same enthusiasm and attention to detail. In addition he has written and published more than 40 other industry related books.
He is often invited as a speaker and knows how to entertain an audience.
Alan isn't shy in front of the camera. He has produced and hosted more than 20 videos and DVDs on antiques and collectables. You may have seen him on television as host of ABC TV's programme Treasure Hunt as well as appearances as an antiques expert on Collectors (ABC), Good Morning Australia (Channel 9), The Morning Show (Channel 7) and numerous regional television stations.
He knows his "stuff".
